The Wedding Outfit

Dorothy had been in town all morning.

She had been looking for an outfit for her nieces wedding and was sorely in need of a cup of tea.  She had put on weight recently and felt unattractive and frumpy.  She decided to stop at the next cafe and saw one just down the street. She pushed open the door and saw it was nearly full, except for a seat by an attractive looking man.  She crossed the room and asked him if he minded if she sat in the empty seat he said he didnt mind at all.  She sat down and the waitress came and took her order.  The man opposite asked her if she had been shopping and she told him of her difficulty finding a suitable outfit, for her nieces wedding.

“The trouble is” she said, “I’ve put on weight and couldnt get anything to fit properly”.

She found herself opening up to him and told him she was unhappy with the way she looked.  He told her she was an attractive woman, who any man would be proud to be seen with.  They chatted comfortably and he seemed really interested in what she had to say and she thought how nice he was and attractive too.  At last she said she would have to go and he rose at the same time and they left the cafe together.  He said his car was parked around the corner and would she like a lift.  She found herself accepting.  When they arrived at her house, he got out of the car and came around and helped her out.  He took her to the front door, she opened the door and he followed her in.

“Whats for dinner then” he said, “well, we have been married for thirty four years” she said, “you should know by now its shepherds pie on a wednesday!”
