Government benefit sanctions what are your thoughts?

I've just been reading some newspaper articles about the government benefit sanctions. Under the freedom of information act they have forced the government to release figures of people who have died after being taken from the sick and put back into the job market I just wondered what people's thoughts were on this subject http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/governments-benefit-tests-under-scrutiny-as-thousands-die-after-being-passed-fit-to-work-10475380.html this is one of the articles I've read but there are many others in the national papers

I'm just really wondering whether an equity release could be an option in this case to figure out life once left out of the job market... Do you have any ideas / experiences to share on this? Thanks

Yes I know what you mean and I agree there needs to be some sort of punishment available to the job centre staff for repeat offenders. But I’ve always thought a fairer way would be to issue a written warning on the first offence and if they have a second offence, then stop the money. I actually no a woman whose bus broke down which made her late for her signing appointment. But when she informed the staff of why she was late they still sanctioned her which left her without any money for her and her child for four weeks. On appeal it was immediately overturned and she received back payments for the money she lost, but she still had to go four weeks without any money. This is the problem with how the system is set up; the job centre staff actually has two meet targets on sanctions. Where if she had been given a written warning, she could have appealed against the letter and won to have it removed from her file, and would have saved a lot of hardship over the four weeks.

The biggest problems are the likes of Sir Philip Green and all the other big companies avoiding paying their rightful taxes, then perhaps there wouldn't have to be so many of the cuts which are aimed at the ordinary people, and more funding for the NHS....etc.

When the society we have to exist in, doesn't meet the basics of care towards its citizens at the 'unfortunate end' of its careless policies, it is not all that surprising when people get caught up in the daily psychological blows that prevent them from having a positive attitude towards life, and to then expect them to uphold the 'rights and responsibilities' that every upright citizen should adhere to, is bordering on the absurdities of life. If society were ever to provide an equal playing field, allowing for everyone to have a healthy psyche and ego, then such 'reprehensible behaviour' as 'dropping out of society' might more readily be deemed a fault in character. As it stands, it is a natural reaction, at a certain level, to the daily onslaught to a person's ego that lowers their expectations and head with despair..

I agree.
i see it as a race towards Americanism weras everything has to have a monetary value.
Sadly profit/money is a great motivator and therfore justifies being on the short list of "21st Century" human needs solely as an incentive.
I believed it shouldn't...but it is.
To find a path towards a utopian future we need to accept "what is" and not what should be or not be.
Money is still in it's evolutionary beginnings, a catalyst to work together.
American economics equates to greed, evolution is blind, that's the challenge.
