Do you believe what manufacturers say on packaging?

It has just been announced that some leading sun cream brands are not delivering the product that they say they are and their creams have only 66% of the sun protection that they are advertising.

The two products are apparently not offering adequate protection from harmful UV rays according to research by the consumer group Which?.   Soltan Protect and Moisturise Lotion SPF 30 (200ml) is one of the products which failed the test, which is manufactured and sold by Boots, and the other is Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion SPF30 (180ml) which both failed their tests and have been labelled as ‘Don’t Buy’ products, as each only offers around two-thirds of its claimed SPF.

Consumer confidence is key when we buy food, clothes, cars and thousands of other goods and services. Consumer Groups such as Which? are helpful to point out the best products and also the worst.
