England Expects

England Expects
England expects it’s men to be brave,
The refugees and the poor to save,
The workers to work for a minimum wage,
The sick and the needy filled with courage.
England expects it’s young to be strong,
To always be right and never do wrong.
To work all hours, day and night,
To help put this country back to right.
England expects it’s mothers to work,
And have babies, they cannot shirk,
Their duty to furnish, with joy and elation,
Our hopes and prospects for the next generation.
England expects employment to rise,
As the recession we’re in slowly dies,
But where are the jobs? Does nobody know?
How long will they last? Before once more they go.
England expects the poor to stay poor,
It’s as if no-one really cares anymore.
How many are homeless with no food or hope,
How does England expect them to cope?
If England expects us to know the truth,
It has to furnish us with the proof.
Not let statements be taken out of text,
And expect us to know what England expects.
