Too Quiet
Below is another amusing poem written by Tracey Curtis …..
TOO QUIET
I’m sitting here, all on my own,
No one to talk to, so I pick up my phone.
I text my friend, “How are you”?,
But she doesn’t text back, “What did I do?
All I can hear, is the sound of the clock,
It’s driving me mad, ‘Tick Tock, Tick Tock’.
The kids are out, my hubby’s a sleep,
My dog keeps twitching, hes dreaming of sheep.
I look though the window, holding my tea
I just wish someone, would visit me.
I’d play a CD, but I can’t choose one,
I’d watch TV, but there’s nothing on.
I could go out, but it’s much too cold,
I could look at photos, but then I feel old.
I’d hoover the floor, but its already done,
It’s far too quiet, it’s not much fun.
I’m really bored, as you can see,
Perhaps I’m just bad company.
But wait, who’s that, I can hear singing,
There’s someone here, the doorbells ringing.
It’s Eddy my son, he’s forgotten his key,
It’s raining outside, so he’s back for his tea.
He’s brought his friends round, Patrick, and Brad,
“Can they stay for tea?”, they’ve asked their dad.
Here comes Kelvin, they’ve woken him up,
“Is that tea? can I have a cup”.
The kids want feeding, Kelvin wants tea,
My phone starts bleeping, there’s a text for me.
All of a sudden, I have plenty to do,
What comes first?, the tea or the stew?
Reading the text, on my phone,
It’s chaos again,…. now the house is a home.
